Airport Travel

Tell your airline about your disability at least 48 hours before departure if you will need help, also any equipment you are traveling with and if they have batteries. Please note.
1. You can travel with up to 2 items of mobility equipment free of charge if you are disabled. This will not count as part of your baggage allowance.
2. Must be dry gell cell or Lithium batteries and disconnected for flights.
3. You can not take your own wheelchair into the passenger cabin of a plane. It will be stored in the hold. Speak to your airline to find out what help they can provide you for getting through the airport and boarding the plane
4. Notify your insurance company where, when and how long you are traveling for to ensure your equipment is covered for baggage handling, in flight cover. Most insurance policies cover you up to 90 days world wide for your equipment.
Airlines and airports have different facilities for disabled people. Find out from your airport or airline if they have the facilities you need, eg a toilet with disabled access. It will also help if you give them the sizes and weight of your equipment when notifying your airline or airport. ( see your owners manual for specifications)
